Geofences on the Map
You can view all available geofenced areas created by your company directly on the map, whether or not you have permission to access the full Geofences page.
Map Display:
· All geofenced areas are shown with their defined shapes, coordinates, and colours.
· When you hover over a geofence, its name will appear.
· Clicking on a geofence opens a quick menu with:
o Edit geofence (if you have the “AddGeofences” permission)
o Add geofence (if you have the “AddGeofences” permission)
Clustering:
· When zoomed out, the map clusters overlapping geofences into a single group.
· Each cluster shows a number indicating how many geofences are grouped.
· As you zoom in or out, the map dynamically adjusts clustering, ensuring a clean and informative view.
Editing Geofences:
· If you click Edit geofence and have the “AddGeofences” permission, you’ll be redirected to the geofence edit mode on the Geofences page.
Adding a New Geofence:
· You can also click anywhere on the map to drop a pin icon.
o A menu will appear allowing you to Add geofence (if you have permission).
· Once selected, you’ll be redirected to the Geofences page in create mode, with the new geofence defaulted to the pin location.
· To remove the pin, click on any empty area of the map.
Map Actions: Show Distance To
You can perform quick actions directly on the map to check distances and generate directions to any location.
· Click anywhere on the map to drop a pin icon, then select Show distance to.
· The system will calculate the straight-line distance between the selected point and all ACTIVE assets in your fleet.
· The calculated distance is shown in a new dynamic table column named Distance to.
· This column:
o Is automatically added to the first position in the horizontal table view.
o Is not available in the column configuration settings (cannot be removed or reordered).
o Remains visible until the pin is removed from the map.
o Updates automatically in real time as assets move.
· If you are in vertical list view before applying "Show distance to," the table will automatically switch to horizontal view.
· You can sort the table by the “Distance to” column to see which assets are closest or furthest from the selected point.
· Distance values will appear in either miles or kilometres, depending on your company’s Units settings.
Map Actions: Show Direction To
· After placing a pin on the map, select Show direction to.
· The system generates a Google Maps link using the latitude and longitude of the selected point.
· This link:
o Automatically opens in a new browser tab.
o Uses Google Maps in its standard mode, displaying directions to the selected location.
These map actions make it easy for you to assess proximity to important locations and plan navigation routes directly from the live map view.
