Excessive Speeding Event

Updated:

The Excessive Speeding event is generated and triggered only for active assets with a paired tracker.

If a tracker paired to an asset at your company reports data that indicates the asset is excessively speeding, the system will generate an Excessive Speeding event.

The system defines Excessive Speeding as follows:

  • If the current vehicle speed exceeds the acceptable overspeed limit.

The acceptable overspeed limit is calculated based on the road speed limit and the “Excessive Speed” setting at the asset group level associated with the asset. This limit can be set in either percentage, Kph, or Mph:

  • If set in percentage:
Acceptable overspeed limit = Road speed limit + (Road speed limit × “Excessive speed” percentage / 100)
  • If set in Kph or Mph:
Acceptable overspeed limit = Road speed limit + “Excessive speed” in Kph or Mph

Note: The system considers conversion between kilometres and miles when calculating the overspeed limit.

This event will only be generated once for that specific instance of excessive speeding. The system will not create duplicate events while the asset remains excessively speeding.

If the asset stops excessively speeding, a new Excessive Speeding event will be generated when the criteria are met again.

You can view Excessive Speeding events on the Journey Details tab on the Fleet page.
